District-Wide Technology Planning

The District Technology Committee is engaged in planning for the district with regard to how new technology impacts the amounts and variety of technologies received at the school level. Technology requests made by the individual schools are reflected in the budget of the district-wide plan. The district technology committee will establish itself as the primary vehicle to monitor, evaluate, and recommend changes to the technology plan. The technology committee will have the authority to recommend changes based upon how the recommendations fit in with the plan with respect to funding, support, and infrastructure. The technology committee can also make recommendations as to how these changes will be implemented in the district as well as suggest alternative funding.

The function of the District Technology Committee is to:
  • Evaluate and update the district technology plan.
  • Ensure compatibility with district-wide goals.
  • Promote awareness among the schools of other’s efforts.
  • Coordinate purchasing, training/professional development, maintenance and support.
  • Make acquisition decisions.
  • Be a centralized conduit through which information concerning technology can be shared to all stakeholders (i.e. presentations by vendors, grant proposals, professional development opportunities).

The district technology committee will be comprised of the following:
  • At least one member from each school thereby ensuring equal voice and understanding of each individual school’s needs.
  • The district technology director.
  • A community representative.
  • Representatives from administration.
  • A student representative.

The district technology committee will meet regularly throughout the school year to support this planning process. On an annual basis, the district technology committee will evaluate and provide to the Superintendent of Schools the following:
